IN AUSTRALIA, THEY CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF A POLISH SERIES. THE PREMIERE DATE IN POLAND IS STILL UNKNOWN

The creators of the series "Udar" for the Viaplay platform have been unable to get information for months about when its Polish premiere will take place. Meanwhile, the production is doing well in the Australian market, where it was released in June 2024. So why can't Polish viewers still watch it?

Following the success of "Morderczynie" (The Murderesses), the streaming service Viaplay decided to capitalize on that success by creating another series in collaboration with Polish creators. "Udar", directed by Paweł Demirski, Rafał Skalski, and Antonio Galdamez, was officially completed in March 2024. Yet, Polish audiences still haven't had the chance to see the story of the Warsaw bon vivant, played by Jacek Poniedziałek.

The Series "Udar" Has Not Yet Premiered in Poland, While Australian Viewers Have Been Watching It for Weeks

Some time ago, it was revealed that since June 2024, "Udar" has been airing on CBS in Australia, while Poles are still unaware of its premiere date. As is widely known, Viaplay will only operate in the Polish market until the summer of 2025, and has long been focusing primarily on sports content, with original series like "Morderczynie" being shown on other streaming platforms or TV channels.

As producer Maciej Kubicki explained in an interview with "Gazeta Wyborcza", Viaplay’s withdrawal from the Polish market might be the reason for the delay in setting an official premiere date for "Udar" and its distribution in Poland.

We finished all the work in March 2024. Since then, we've been waiting for information about the premiere. We were told that Viaplay was pulling out of Poland, and after that, there was no one to contact on the Polish side

- he said.

He also revealed that all technical matters were handled by staff from the Stockholm headquarters of the service. He assured that from a financial standpoint, the creators have been fully settled with Viaplay, so the future of the production depends solely on the platform’s decisions, as it holds full rights to the series.

We were, and still are, very eager for a Polish premiere, as is the entire cast and crew. It's truly a successful premium series that deserves to meet a Polish audience

- he concluded.

What About the Polish Premiere of "Udar"? Viaplay Comments on the Series

In response, they were assured that discussions are currently underway regarding the distribution of the production, not only in Poland but also in the Nordic countries and international markets. "We will inform our subscribers about any decisions regarding the distribution method and planned premiere dates in due time and with appropriate notice" - Viaplay stated.
